Calton Hill Observatory

£4.5M The City Observatory was designed by William Henry Playfair in 1818. The two-year project was to conserve and reinstate the original A-listed designs, display and interpret the telescopes and astronomical instruments, and open the building as learning and social spaces

The Hill House Box

The Hill House is regarded as Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s domestic masterpiece, the Hill House was built in 1904 for publisher Walter Blackie.The Box is an innovative chainmail structure built over the Hill House that will protect the building, allow it to dry out and enable further conservation.

£9M new build for NMS and NTS. Includes a traditional slate roof, timber cladding and concrete frame to give the appearance and feel of a working barn. The building houses the National Collection of Agriculture and Country Life which ranges from oil paintings and costume to the largest collection of Combine Harvesters in Europe.

£800K Upgrade of a Grade B listed building to construct a new external lift tower with artwork cladding to establish DDA compliant access. Internally, a new secure archive store and repairs to the existing fabric were carried out.

£8M Alteration to a Grade A listed building in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town to create a new basement and six floors of retail and office space. An internal concrete frame allowed a new configuration of the building with modern services and a high quality fit out.

£2.6M restoration of one of Scotland’s iconic buildings (and the largest monument to a writer anywhere in the world). We monitored stone cleaning and structure refurbishment as well as working with client and contractors to effectively manage work on this extremely busy city centre site.

£20M Refurbishment and redevelopment of six Grade A listed townhouses featuring neoclassical façades designed by 18th century architect Robert Adam. Four separate offices were created within the historic buildings and a contemporary extension was added to the rear of the properties to create an internal courtyard and three storey office.
